MeWE Creative Writing Series

About this event

This is a six week series. We will meet on Sundays, 2:30-5:30 at my home downtown Memphis on the following dates:

11/15. 11/22, 11/29, 12/6, 12/13, 12/20. The total fee for the series is $190. There will be no refunds after November 8.

If you are not able to commit to the whole series, but would still like to join on a drop-in basis, please contact me. The drop-in fee is $35 per workshop, and only available at my discretion.

It works like this:

• We gather in person (10 participants max).

• I offer varied prompts and timed exercises to generate new writing, experiment with diverse forms (prose, poetry, drama) and improve our craft.

• We write freely for the allotted time (between 5 and 40 minutes).

• We read to the group what we just wrote-if we feel like it.

• We give and receive supportive feedback.

• All levels of experience are welcome.

I founded MeWE (the Memphis Writers Ensemble) twenty years ago, when I needed a community to write with. I found inspiration, accountability, and fellowship. I also wrote two novels, published one, and am currently in the midst of writing a memoir about my recent breast Cancer odyssey. MeWE has become a home for many of us creative souls. I would love to welcome you there.

Author of the novel Even the Breath (Lavender Ink, 2016) and AWA* certified writing workshop leader, I honor the courage and vulnerability of all writers by making a safe space and a supportive community for any adult (16+) who wishes to explore their own voice(s).
